The Solana Network Explained

The Solana network is a global set of validators that agree on transactions using proof of stake and proof of history.

Non-custodial · One signature · Metaplex metadata + IPFS · Deployed on mainnet

How it works

Validators take turns producing blocks according to a schedule. Proof of history gives transactions a verifiable order, which helps the network confirm them in seconds. Fees are typically a fraction of a cent, with optional priority fees when busy.

Mainnet and devnet

Mainnet-beta holds real value. Devnet and testnet are for testing and use valueless SOL. You can view any transaction on explorers like Solscan. See Solana mining and what is Solana used for.

If you want to build on Solana, the Solana token creator deploys a token in one signed transaction, and creators can enter the $100 creator giveaway (a promotional draw; no prize is guaranteed).
