How to Make Money With a Crypto Token
A token by itself is just a ledger entry. Value appears when there is a reason to hold or use it. These are the mechanisms creators actually use, and the limits of each.
Non-custodial · One signature · Metaplex metadata + IPFS · Deployed on mainnet
Mechanisms available to a token creator
Liquidity pool fees accrue to whoever supplies liquidity. A creator allocation (treasury) only has value if a market exists. A utility token can be priced against a real product — access, credits, in-game currency. Token-2022 transfer fees route a percentage of each transfer to a configured account.
Creating a token does not create demand for it. Whether anyone buys, holds, or trades your token depends on the market and on the work you put into your community — no outcome is guaranteed.
- LP swap fees — typically ~0.25% on Raydium or PancakeSwap pools
- Creator allocation — a share of supply held by your wallet
- Utility pricing — charge in your token for something you actually provide
- Token-2022 transfer fee — configurable at creation on Solana Token-2022
- Referral share — 30% of the SolanaForge platform fee for creators you refer
What does not work
Launching without a story, buying fake engagement, or promising returns. Communities check whether mint and freeze authorities are revoked and whether LP is burned or locked — those are transparency signals, not profit guarantees.
Step-by-step
Step 1. Define the token's purpose
Meme, community, utility, or in-game — write it in one sentence.
Step 2. Set supply and decimals deliberately
These are permanent. Nine decimals and a round supply are the common Solana defaults.
Step 3. Create the token
Use the [Solana token creator](/create) and sign a single transaction.
Step 4. Add liquidity
Create a pool so the token can be traded, then consider burning or locking LP tokens.
Step 5. Distribute and communicate
Airdrop, list, and keep talking to holders consistently.

Frequently asked questions
Do I earn anything automatically after creating a token?
No. Creating a mint generates no income by itself. Any value comes from liquidity fees, utility you provide, or market activity you build.
What is a transfer fee token?
A Solana Token-2022 extension that routes a set percentage of each transfer to a fee account you configure at creation.
Should I keep some supply?
Many creators do, but a large unlocked allocation is often viewed as a risk by holders. Be transparent about it.
How much liquidity do I need?
Enough that ordinary trades do not cause extreme price impact. The amount is entirely your decision and is at market risk.
