How to Create a Token With Code

If you want to write code, Solana's tooling makes it short. If you don't, a no-code creator produces the same SPL token.

Non-custodial · One signature · Metaplex metadata + IPFS · Deployed on mainnet

Option 1: Solana CLI

With the Solana CLI and spl-token installed and a funded keypair: run `spl-token create-token` to make the mint, `spl-token create-account <MINT>` to make your token account, and `spl-token mint <MINT> 1000000` to mint supply. Metadata (name, logo) requires a separate Metaplex step.

Option 2: JavaScript

With @solana/web3.js and @solana/spl-token: call `createMint(connection, payer, mintAuthority, freezeAuthority, 9)`, then `getOrCreateAssociatedTokenAccount(...)` and `mintTo(...)`. Add metadata with Metaplex's token-metadata program.

  • Test on devnet first
  • Keep keypair files private
  • Revoke authorities with setAuthority when ready

Option 3: no code

The Solana token creator bundles mint, supply, metadata and optional revokes into one wallet-signed transaction.

Step-by-step

  1. Step 1. Install tooling

Solana CLI and spl-token, or Node.js packages.

  2. Step 2. Fund a keypair

    Use devnet SOL for testing.

  3. Step 3. Create the mint

    spl-token create-token or createMint().

  4. Step 4. Mint supply

Create a token account and mint to it.

  5. Step 5. Add metadata

Attach name, symbol and logo via Metaplex.

Type a name and ticker — we'll carry them straight into the creator. No wallet needed yet.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to write a smart contract to create a Solana token?

No. Solana tokens use the existing SPL Token Program; you call it rather than deploying your own contract.

What language are Solana programs written in?

Mostly Rust, but creating a token only needs CLI commands or JavaScript.

Is there a no-code option?

Yes. The SolanaForge creator produces a standard SPL token from a web form.

Ready to create your token?

Connect your wallet, fill the form, sign once. Your token is live on mainnet with on-chain metadata, a real logo, and optional authority revokes.
